As a child, Diogo was influenced by family trips to visit his grandparents in the rural Beiras province of Central Portugal. Away from his native Lisbon, pastoral countryside nurtured his intuitive connection with agriculture. Eventually, a degree in Agronomy and Oenology followed . Winemaking became his passion. Harvest internships in the Vinho Verde, Douro and Alentejo wine regions of Portugal ensued. Experiences abroad in California's Napa Valley and Mendoza in Argentina deepened his appreciation of different terroirs.
Returning to Portugal, Diogo's passion for the wine industry was firmly ensconced. At the very beginning of Diogo's professional career, he met Anselmo Mendes, one of Portugal's most revered winemakers. They have been working together ever since, drawing off their complementary skills and knowledge. He thrives on the possibility of creating something unique, which is what makes his work at Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias so exciting.
